B B B Benny and the....

Who else? Elton John! 2 years qgo, I was seated in the audience at a concert series my husband is one of the official photographers for. It's called Tales from the Tavern. All the locals come out to listen to and enjoy a private evening of live music. It's a tiny venue that only seats about 100 and because the Santa Ynez Valley is dotted with legendary music people, you never know who will show up.  That evening, seated in front of me, was celebrated songwriter, Mr. Bernie Taupin. I could have drawn Bernie but chose this colorfully feathered version of Elton instead.  As Bernie says, "you had a busy day today..."

Most Struts fans agree that Luke Spiller could comfortably fill the platform shoes of Dr. Frank N Furter for a Rocky Horror remake. His classic pretty yet, masculine features, bone chillingly delicious vocals and clipped Brittish accent make him a prime choice for the cult classic role. I painted this with loving care and tender regard for details using several prototypes including a frontal facial photo taken by renowned concert photographer, Barry Sigman (my adorable husband) So the question on everyone's mind is, if you were offered the role of Frank N, would you take it, Luke? Peyton's Kiss

Out of all the paintings I've ever done, Peyton's Kiss has the most endearing story of all. Although I usually cringe at doing commissioned paintings, my long-time friend, Steve Adams, asked me to paint this picture of his friend Ashley's daughter, Peyton as a birthday gift.  I thought....sheesh...a baby kissing a mirror?? How the hell am I going to do this one? It seemed like a daunting task but I went to work and finished it in less than a week, mailing it off in time for Ashley'sbirthday party.. I was so touched when Steve sent me a video of her opening her present. Here was lady whom I'd never met and yet, I got to touch her life through my artwork.   God has blessed me with this talent and I never take it for granted. So here's Peyton.

Caylee Anthony: Always and Forever

This is one of the most bittersweet drawings I've ever done. On July 5th, 2011, when the jury reached a verdict for Casey Anthony, a part of all of us, died that day. She was found innocent for the death of her daughter, Caylee. I have always felt a sense of frustration over this case. That's what inspired me to make this rendering of Caylee. It gave me a new mission and purpose.  Rather than helplessly fret over senseless murders like this, I plan to draw other victims and place them in a Gallery in which 100% of the proceeds will go to the victim's families. As for Caylee, she rests in the arms of Jesus. And for her mother, Casey: you may be free here on earth but the devil is preparing a special jail cell for you in the next life. Repent and confess.
