Up Up and Away

Image
We recently moved into the home of our dreams in Santa Ynez. Our bedroom wall   is a blank wall so I created this painting to grace the spot over our bed. It will blend in perfectly with our surroundings.

Noah's Heart Job

Image
Meet Noah Guinto, PA with Cottage hospital Cardiology and Thoracic Surgery Santa Barbara. He attended during my husband's open heart surgery last month and was a comforting and familiar presence in the ICU while my husband was recovering. During that time, we got to know him and like so many of Barry's  caregivers, he was a Godsend! As a way of thanks, I presented him with this rendering I did during the quiet moments at my husband's bedside. "I dont have any pictures on my desk yet," he exclaimed, "so this will be my first one!"  Noah was one of many who cared for my husband. He had 2 heart valves repaired.  The staff at Cottage Hospital saved my husband's life.

The Light of All Men

Image
It is my hope and prayer that this tender yet science-fictiony drawing conveys to you the scripture verse in the lower left corner.  "In Him was life, and the life was the light of all men. And the light shines in the darkness but the darkness comprehended it not." John 1; 4  Each one of us contains that light and science confirms it. It's known as the zinc spark phenomenon.  When a sperms and egg successfully unite, the egg releases billions of zinc ions creating a flash of light under the microscope.

Orchids: If You Can't Grow Them, DRAW THEM!

Image
I did have some live orchids once. They were the same color. I kept them alive for many years until their thick white roots outgrew the small clay pot they were in. I tried repotting them but they shriveled up n died. The good thing about a drawing is, you cant kill it....unless that is, the canvas burns or the digital rendering gets deleted. No worries though. I have immortalized these beauties for you right here at the Gina Sigman Gallery.
